All research and review articles submitted to the Egyptian Journal of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology will undergo the editorial workflow detailed below. Editorials, errata, and opinions will be published without peer review.
The process is single blinded where the reviewers know the identity of the manuscript authors, while the authors are unaware of the identity of the reviewers.
In case that an author is an editorial board member, no privilege will be given to him/her during the peer review process.
The goal of the editorial team is to reach a final editorial decision within approximately 4 weeks of submission.
The entire editorial workflow is performed using the online Manuscript Management System. Once a manuscript is confirmed, by the editorial office, to comply with the Journal's style, the manuscript will be forwarded to the Editor-in-Chief who will assign it to an appropriate Editor. The assigned Editor will be from among the Journal's editorial board members most qualified to handle the manuscript based on the subject of the manuscript and availability of members.
If the Editor determines that the manuscript is not of sufficient quality and/or does not fall within the scope of the journal, he/she will reject the manuscript, otherwise he/she will assign not less than two reviewers to evaluate the quality of the presented work and its merit for publication. The Editor will not serve as a reviewer of the manuscript. The reviewers will submit their reports on the manuscript along with their recommendations of one of the following actions, to the Editor:
After careful consideration of the submitted reviews the Editor will make one of the following recommendations:
Accept unaltered: The manuscript to be accepted for publication
Accept after minor changes: The author(s) are notified to submit, within a time period a revised copy of their manuscript with the required changes suggested by the reviewers and/or the Editor. The author(s) should also submit a letter detailing all changes made to the manuscript. The Editor will review the revised manuscript.
Accept after major changes: The author(s) are notified to submit, within a time period a revised copy of their manuscript with the required changes requested by the reviewers and/or the Editor. The author(s) should also submit a letter detailing all changes made to the manuscript.
In the event of minor or major changes, the revised manuscript may be returned to the original reviewers.
Reject: Immediate irreversible rejection. This also will be the decision if a majority of the reviewers recommend rejecting the manuscript.
The Editor-in-Chief will make the final decision on submitted manuscripts in coordination with the assigned Editor.
